Intuitive and ritualistic, Zoé Mad’s work emerges through reflection, release and transformation. She plays with symbols both gathered and inherited: from childhood, relationships and encounters across cultures to forms that seem to reach beyond the individual.

Situated between expressionism and symbolism, Mad’s artworks are built through layered surfaces, bold colour palettes, gestural textures and recurring patterns. Moving between figuration and abstraction, human figures dissolve into landscapes and patterns, while nature appears as an intelligent and living force. Colour becomes both an emotional language and a way of carrying experience.

Zoé Mad captures the moment when an image frees itself from its origin and begins to hold another person’s shadow, desire or sense of belonging. The deeply personal becomes strangely familiar - instinctively recognised and undeniably human.

Zoé Mad (b.1994) is a Lithuanian-German painter, ritualist and curator. Her work inhabits the space between the memory and myth, the intimate and the ancestral. Across monumental paintings, skin works and installations, she develops visual worlds rooted in symbolism, nature and collective memory.

Raised in Lithuania, her Baltic roots formed an early foundation of her visual language. Mad studied Fine Arts & Painting at the Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee, graduating with Diploma in 2019 under Prof. Nader Ahriman. After Berlin, she spent seven years living and working across Latin America.

Mad is the founder of HOUSE OF UNUMA, an interdisciplinary art platform extending her visual language beyond painting into the body, objects and collaborative projects. Her works have been exhibited internationally and are held in various private collections across continents.
